This cow is an Indian breed of zebuine cattle and originates from arid region of Rann of Kutch in the state of Gujarat. The unique characteristics like resistant to tick fever, heat stress, very little incidence of contagious abortion and tuberculosis made Kankrej a very popular one. It is a good milker and yield on an average 1738 kilo grams and a maximum of 1800 Kg of milk in a lactation. The forehead of this cow is broad and slightly dished in centre, while its face is short and nose slightly upturned. Color of this cow varies from silver grey to iron grey and steel black. Kankrej Cow is used for agricultural operations and road transport.
