How to become a BIS certified

Who is eligible for BIS Certification

Anyone who manufactures goods listed in the Compulsory Registration Order, whether they are based in India or abroad, is eligible to apply for BIS Certification under the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS).

For each product being produced in a new location, manufacturers must submit a separate Registration number application.

For each brand being produced at the same facility, manufacturers must submit a separate Registration number application.

  • Including testing time, the period required for BIS Registration will be around 30 to 35 days (15-20 days)
  • The BIS issues certificates that are valid for two years and can be renewed after that.

Ans: The BIS licence must be renewed every two years and must remain in effect for a minimum of one year and a maximum of five years.
